Head-to-head

Claude Pro vs ClinePass

The price gap is half the story. The other half is that a Claude subscription is not licensed to drive Cline at all.

Updated August 28, 2026 · Independent comparison — Claude Pro, ClinePass are separate products.

Claude Pro logo

Claude Pro

Anthropic's $20 seat, Claude Code included

Claude Pro is Anthropic's $20/month seat ($200/year, about $17/month) and it includes Claude Code. Usage runs on a rolling 5-hour session window stacked on a weekly cap, and — critically — chat, desktop, mobile and Claude Code all draw from the same pool, so a long conversation eats your coding budget. Anthropic does not publish numeric limits. Claude Fable 5 is not in the included weekly pool on Pro; it bills through usage credits at API rates instead. The product context window on individual plans is 200K.

ClinePass logo

ClinePass

Cline's flat-rate pass for open-weight models

ClinePass is Cline's flat-rate pass for open-weight coding models: $4.99 the first month, then $9.99/month. It bundles GLM, Kimi, DeepSeek, MiniMax, MiMo and Qwen models behind one Cline API key, so you never register with the individual labs. Cline advertises roughly 2-5x the throughput of standard API rate limits but does not publish numeric caps, and hitting the ceiling returns a hard ClinePassLimitError rather than degrading to a cheaper model. It is a personal-account product — Cline organization accounts cannot subscribe.

Bottom line

These are not interchangeable. Claude Pro is $20/month for Anthropic's own models inside Claude Code, and Anthropic clarified in February 2026 that the Pro and Max OAuth token is licensed for claude.ai and Claude Code only — using it to drive Cline, OpenCode or OpenClaw breaches the Consumer Terms. If you want Claude models inside Cline, you need a separate pay-as-you-go Anthropic API key, billed per token. ClinePass is Cline's own answer: $9.99/month for thirteen open-weight models from six labs, with a key that is explicitly meant to work in other agents. Choose Claude Pro for the strongest models in the harness they are licensed for; choose ClinePass if the harness matters more than the lab.

One window, every agent you're paying for

Whichever seat wins here, you end up locked to one vendor's harness — and most of these subscriptions are contractually barred from driving anything else. 1DevTool runs Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cline, OpenCode and Gemini CLI side by side in persistent terminals, so you can put each subscription behind the agent it's actually licensed for and switch between them without switching windows. It adds an HTTP client, a 13-engine database client and an embedded browser too. One-time $29, no subscription.
