Head-to-head

Devin vs Claude Code Max

The real difference is concurrency. Devin's upper tiers run unlimited concurrent sessions; every extra Claude Code terminal drains the same weekly pool faster.

Devin

Cognition's autonomous cloud engineer

Devin is Cognition's autonomous cloud engineer, sharing a pricing ladder with Devin Desktop: Free, Pro $20, Max $200, and Teams from $80/month. Included usage is a daily plus weekly token-value allowance rather than a credit count, and past it you buy extra usage at API list prices — priority and fast variants cost more. Concurrency is where the tiers separate: Free and Pro run up to ten concurrent sessions while Max and Teams are unlimited. Higher plans add Slack, Linear, Jira and GitHub integrations.

Claude Max 20x

20x Pro usage at $200/month

Claude Max 20x is $200/month for twenty times Pro's per-session usage, on the same weekly all-models and per-model-group caps as Max 5x. It is Anthropic's heaviest first-party seat and is marketed for long uninterrupted sessions, but it is explicitly not unlimited. Like every Claude plan it cannot legally drive a third-party agent — the OAuth token is licensed for claude.ai and Claude Code only — so if you want Cline or OpenCode you need a separate pay-as-you-go API key.

Bottom line

The real difference is concurrency. Devin's upper tiers run unlimited concurrent sessions; every extra Claude Code terminal drains the same weekly pool faster. Choose Devin if you want to hand over whole tickets and review pull requests, not supervise edits; choose Claude Max 20x if you want to drive the agent yourself, in your own terminal, against your own working tree.

One window, every agent you're paying for

Whichever seat wins here, you end up locked to one vendor's harness — and most of these subscriptions are contractually barred from driving anything else. 1DevTool runs Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cline, OpenCode and Gemini CLI side by side in persistent terminals, so you can put each subscription behind the agent it's actually licensed for and switch between them without switching windows. It adds an HTTP client, a 13-engine database client and an embedded browser too. One-time $29, no subscription.
