What changed
New features
16- Stoic Dark is now the default dark theme — a warm, calm One Dark-derived palette (charcoal background, soft red strings, blue functions, amber types) that's easier on the eyes during long sessions than the old default Dark
- Stoic Light is now the default light theme — based on the classic VS Code Light Visual Studio palette (pure white background, navy keywords, maroon tags, green comments) so it reads instantly to anyone coming from VS Code
- The previous Dark and Light themes are still available in the Appearance picker — your saved theme preference still resolves correctly; only the system-default has changed
- System-pref resolution now lands on Stoic — when "Theme" is set to "System" and your OS flips between dark and light, 1DevTool now picks the Stoic variant instead of the old defaults
- JetBrainsMono Nerd Font Mono is now bundled into 1DevTool as the default monospace family — full icon glyph set (Devicons, Font Awesome, Powerline, Octicons, etc.) renders correctly in your terminal, editor, and AI agent panels without installing anything system-wide
- Works offline and on fresh installs — @font-face with locally-bundled WOFF2 files means new machines, locked-down corporate laptops, and SSH-into-an-unfamiliar-mac sessions all show the icon font from first launch
- local() lookups respect your existing install — if you already have JetBrainsMono Nerd Font installed system-wide, 1DevTool uses your system copy instead of the bundled copy, so no double font decode cost
- Auto-detected in the Font picker under Settings → Appearance so you can switch back and forth or pin it as your terminal font
- One-shot "pickup" popup when opening the Agent Input overlay — if you've already typed something at the native AI prompt before pressing ⌘I, a small dialog asks whether to bring that text across to the overlay or start fresh, instead of silently dropping or duplicating your text
- One-shot "bring-back" popup when closing with unsaved content — closing the overlay (Esc or the × button) with text in the textarea now asks whether to return that text to the native prompt, discard it, or keep editing — no more accidentally losing a long prompt by hitting Escape
- Full keyboard navigation — Arrow keys move between popup choices, Tab is trapped inside the dialog, Enter activates the focused button, Escape closes the popup without consuming the underlying overlay state
- Replaces the previous behavior where native-prompt content was either auto-merged on open or silently lost on close depending on edge-case flags
- New "Third-Party Licenses" section in Settings → About — opens a modal showing the full license text for everything 1DevTool bundles: SIL OFL 1.1 for JetBrainsMono, MIT for Nerd Fonts, MIT for the GitHub VS Code Theme that Stoic Dark and Stoic Light derive from
- Lets you audit and attribute every third-party asset in seconds instead of digging through the repo
- New "Show run timer in AI terminal tabs" preference under Settings → Terminal → General — controls whether the elapsed-time chip appears on AI terminal tabs while an agent is processing
- Defaults to on, so existing behavior is unchanged; turn it off if you find the live-updating timer distracting during long agent runs
Improvements
4- Notification and dashboard previews for AI terminals (Claude, Codex, Gemini, Amp, OpenCode, Cline, Qoder, Qwen) now strip TUI chrome — prompt-box borders, status footers, model banners, "accept edits", "bypass permissions on (shift+tab to cycle)", token counters, and project-path hints are filtered out so you actually see the assistant's response in the preview
- Box-drawing characters are trimmed from line edges before chrome detection runs, so prompts wrapped in │ … │ borders no longer hide their real text behind separator lines
- Works across Claude's version banner, Codex's "OpenAI Codex CLI" + effort labels, and the common cross-agent hint lines (/help, "type a message…", "press Enter…")
- Per-keystroke draft sync removed — typing in the Agent Input overlay no longer pushes a draft update into the shared store on every keystroke, which previously caused the underlying transcript / reader view to re-render on every key. Native-prompt pickup and overlay-close hand-off now happen as explicit one-shot transfers when you actually open or close the overlay
Bug fixes
2- Fixed AI terminal scrollback collapsing to just the live status line after switching back to a Claude/Codex/Gemini tab or right after running claude --resume — the auto-recovery heuristic was matching "bypass permissions on (shift+tab to cycle)" and "? for shortcuts" strings that Claude legitimately repaints into history, then wiping the entire buffer with xterm.reset(). Auto-recovery is now opt-in (window.__enableAutoRecovery = true); diagnostic logging still fires so we can spot real corruption, and manual repair via window.__refreshTerminal(id) is one keystroke away
- Fixed AI notification previews showing only ─ separator lines when the agent's last paint ended on a prompt-box border — chrome stripping now runs on the preview path so the bell/badge body shows the actual response
