The message rail exists so you can get back to something you said earlier without scrolling the whole transcript, but a clipped single line of raw text only tells you a message exists, not whether it is the one you want. For the messages worth going back to — a long brief, a numbered spec, a JSON paste — the first line is the least distinctive part, so you end up clicking through several dots to find the right one, and each miss scrolls you away from where you were. Rendering the preview as markdown makes the shape of the message visible: a spec looks like a spec, a checklist looks like a checklist, code looks like code. Recognising it becomes a hover rather than a hunt. The preview flips to the other side of the rail when there is no room and stays clear of the viewport edges, so it never opens half off-screen on a narrow window.

Click to jump
Clicking the dot scrolls the transcript to that message. Scrolling the rail closes the preview.
