Edit, Test and Force Remove Machines
Change an SSH machine's name, host, port, username, identity file or ssh config alias and test the connection before saving, with its projects and saved connections updated to match. A machine that still has projects can be force removed without touching any files on the host.

Why You Need This
How this feature boosts your daily productivity
SSH machines change: a host gets a new address, a key is rotated, a box moves behind a jump host. Before, fixing that meant removing the machine, which a machine with projects refused to do, and adding it again. Now Edit connection… changes the details in place, Test connection checks them before you save, and the projects and saved connections on that machine update with it. When a machine really is gone, Force remove takes its projects out of 1DevTool, closes their terminals and unmounts the folder, while files on the host are left alone. Settings → Machines also has a How it works guide that animates the three ways to use another machine: an SSH host, Handoff, and a paired computer.
How It Works
Get started in 4 simple steps
Open Settings → Machines
Use ▶ How it works for an animated guide to SSH hosts, Handoff and paired computers.
Edit connection…
From the machine's menu, change Name, Host, Port, Username, Identity file or the ~/.ssh/config Host alias.
Test connection, then Save
Saving also updates the projects and saved connections on that machine.
Force remove if it is gone
Projects leave 1DevTool and their terminals close. Files on the host are not touched.

Why It Matters
The productivity impact of having project management built into your workspace
Fix, Don't Recreate
A changed host or key is an edit, so the machine's projects and saved connections stay attached.
Know It Works First
Test connection checks the new details before anything is saved.
Clean Exit, Host Untouched
Force remove clears a dead machine from 1DevTool without deleting anything on the host.
