Agent Status in the Notch

A macOS strip under the camera notch that answers "is anything waiting on me?" without raising the app — one brand mark per live AI terminal, and a click to jump to any of them.

The question you ask most often while agents run is the cheapest one to answer and the most expensive one to check: is anything waiting on me?

Answering it used to mean raising the app and scanning panes. The notch strip answers it from wherever you actually are.

macOS only. The strip exists only while an AI terminal is alive, so an idle Mac has nothing sitting over your work.

Turn it on

Settings → Notifications → Show agent status in the notch.

Read the one line

The strip leads with the most urgent state rather than a count:

ShownMeaning
1 needs you (amber)An agent is waiting on your input
2 workingAgents are running, nothing is blocked
2 idleEverything is finished

Leading with needs you is the point: that is the only state that should interrupt you. Working and idle are quiet reassurance.

Read the marks

Each live AI terminal shows as its own brand mark, so you can tell Claude from Codex at a glance. The marks carry state on their own:

  • a working agent pulses
  • one waiting on you flares
  • an idle one dims

You get the shape of the situation before you read a word of the label.

Hover, then click

Hover the strip and it expands into a list — brand mark, terminal name, project, state.

Click a row to jump straight to that terminal. If it lives in another project, 1DevTool switches project first.
